Hakeem Plays Up His Obama Photo Op
President Barack Obama has not yet heeded urgent pleas to formally endorse Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries, but Obama did conveniently take a photo with Jeffries at a recent Waldorf Astoria fundraiser. And as predicted, that photo is played up to full effect in a a glossy news Jeffries campaign mailer, which prominently features the shot with the commander in chief. (See page three of the document below for the Obama handshake.)
The mailer also features an incredibly comprehensive list of endorsements for Jeffries from elected officials, labor, clergy and community groups — which in recent days have nonetheless been overshadowed by the media’s coverage of his opponent Charles Barron’s more surprising nods from DC 37 and Congressman Ed Towns.
Obama, whose team reportedly is solidly in the Jeffries camp, does not formally endorse in Democratic primaries for open seats.
