* Just one word: healthcare. New York State is projected to add close to 300,000 new healthcare and social service jobs between 2010 and 2020, according to a report presented to the New York Works Task Force meeting yesterday. The Navigant Capital Advisors report was prepared to inform the task force’s efforts to revamp the state’s capital investment strategies. Robert Annas, a managing director of NCA, told the group that healthcare, business services and technology were all poised for strong growth in the state, while manufacturing and government are expected to lose thousands of jobs. “These are the sectors … that are expected to show growth, and healthcare is going to be a big part of that,” Annas said. “But also, you want to balance that with projects that will stem some of the decline in the manufacturing base. As you’ve heard, the common term that stuff is moving back from China – that is the case, and New York has some really excellent port locations that should be taken advantage and can really help bring some more job growth to the area. But the key thing is having a balanced approach and putting projects that are going to deliver the economic value that the state and the governor want.”
