Kal Penn to Host Saujani Fundraiser

Actor Kal Penn and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jose Antonio Vargas will co-host a fundraiser for Public Advocate candidate Reshma Saujani on October 16^th at the Downtown Community Television Center in Manhattan. The event will double as a watch party for the second presidential debate, which is being hosted by Hofstra University on Long Island. Both Saujani and Penn have played significant roles in the Obama campaign. Saujani is one of the President’s top 50 bundlers in the nation and Penn, the star of the Harold & Kumar films and the television show House, has taken several hiatuses from his successful acting career to serve in the Obama administration as associate director in the White House Office of Public Engagement. Most recently, Penn hosted the DNC’s celebrity-packed livestream of the Democratic National Convention, where he also delivered a primetime speech. “I’m thrilled to be launching Young Professionals for Reshma with the support of Kal and Jose, who have both worked tirelessly to engage young people and immigrant communities in politics,” said Saujani. “We’re looking forward to a fantastic watch party with supporters from all over the city.”
