How Liz Crowley Spent Her Morning
A meeting just finished up at Queens Democratic Party headquarters in Forest Hills, where Queens party district leaders selected their preferred replacement for Assemblyman Rory Lancman’s seat. (More on that later.)
One district leader not present this morning was Queens Democratic Councilwoman Liz Crowley, who decided to instead campaign in the rain at a subway stop quite close the Queens Dems’ meeting, according to our Jon Lentz, who ran into Crowley and snapped this photo. (The person on the right is Avi Fink, Crowley’s campaign manager.)
As we reported Friday, Crowley and her cousin, Congressman/Queens Democratic Leader Joe Crowley, have had a bit of a falling out recently over her decision to run for Congress against the party’s preferred candidate, Assemblywoman Grace Meng. As a result, the Queens Dems are expected to drop Crowley from their petitions as retribution. So all in all, it’s understandable that Crowley wasn’t too keen on attending the meeting this morning.
In an interview at the meeting today, Joe Crowley declined to comment on the whole situation with his cousin and whether she would be dropped from the party’s petitions.
