Restler Picks Up A Few More Votes As Court Date Looms

* District Leader Lincoln Restler picked up a handful of votes during the first day of the recount on Friday as election workers began hand counting over 12,000. But it remains unlikely that Restler will be able to add or reject enough votes to reverse state committee candidate Chris Olechowski’s slim 31-vote lead. Restler allies requested the Board investigate instances of voter fraud that the campaign alleged occurred in South Williamsburg precincts, and Restler retained election attorney and former state Sen. Marty Connor to pursue the matter. A court date to settle these issues, presumably after the recount is finished, looms in about 10 days.
