Actress Scartlett Johansson will host another fundraiser for Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer’s mayoral campaign on April 5, her third since first coming out in support of Stringer’s candidacy back in October.
The borough president goes way back with the starlet’s family. Johansson’s twin brother Hunter used to work in Stringer’s office. And before that, her grandmother Dorothy Sloan got to know Stringer in the 1980s when he worked for Rep. Jerrold Nadler, then in the state Assembly.
The fundraiser will be held at North Cabana in the glitzy Maritime Hotel. Tickets start at $50 and go up to $2,500.
Stringer also debuted his campaign’s new Twitter handle, @stringer2013.
[UPDATE] Fun fact from a source in the know: Stringer recently got to visit Johansson on the set of her new film, The Avengers, based on the classic Marvel comic book superhero team. Much of the movie was filmed and takes place in New York. No word on whether the borough president was given the chance to wield Mjolnir, the enchanted hammer of Thor. But given the specifications set out by Odin, the Norse god, it seems doubtful. (I’m a huge nerd.)
