Bill Thompson lost the previous mayoral election to Mayor Michael Bloomberg, but he is not above giving credit where it’s due. Thompson, the former city comptroller and 2013 mayoral candidate, said that the city’s next mayor needs to build on Bloomberg’s creativity in order to grow jobs throughout the city. “The next mayor has to look and be creative and not be tied to old ways of thinking,” Thompson said. “If you look at the applied sciences and the focus that the mayor has created along with Cornell on Roosevelt Island, I think that there were other proposals out there that were also great ideas. There was one in Brooklyn along with Steiner studios, along with growing the entertainment industry, we shouldn’t shelve those and that grows jobs outside of Manhattan. Being creative is really going to help move the city forward.”
