A rundown of the Brooklyn DA Democratic candidates

Brooklyn District Attorney Democratic candidates
September 6, 2017

Acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez was the hand-picked successor of Ken Thompson, who died from cancer last year. Gonzalez has emerged as the establishment candidate, but he will have to fight off a crowd of Democratic challengers. Most of them – Ama Dwimoh, Patricia Gatling, Anne Swern and Marc Fliedner – have experience in the Brooklyn DA’s office. A sixth candidate, New York City Councilman Vincent Gentile, previously worked for the Queens DA. Below is a rundown of the key information on each candidate. Campaign funds on hand are based on reports submitted to the state Board of Elections 11 days before the primary.
