The New York Times editorial board, a frequent critic of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration, endorsed Cuomo in the Democratic primary governor’s race on Tuesday. The Times cited Cynthia Nixon’s candidacy as a positive force pushing Cuomo towards reform but ultimately declared her too inexperienced.

LGBT groups, including the state’s largest LGBT Democratic club, have also come out on Cuomo’s side despite his primary opponent, Cynthia Nixon, identifying as “queer.” In its decision, the Stonewall Democrats extolled Cuomo’s record on LGBT issues such as legalizing same-sex marriage and banning conversion therapy in New York.

However, a recent endorsement by a prominent Jewish leader, New York Satmar Rebbe Zalman Tietelbaum, is shrouded in accusations of dishonesty. The Yeshiva World reported that the governor allegedly told Tietelbaum that he would not interfere in yeshiva education during a meeting at the rabbi’s home in Williamsburg – a claim that Cuomo did not directly refute. In recent years, Orthodox yeshivas in New York City have been under investigation over allegations that they provide inadequate secular education.

Here’s a recap of these endorsements – and many more – that the two gubernatorial campaigns have received so far. City & State reached out to both campaigns and received an updated list from the Nixon campaign, but Cuomo’s campaign did not respond.
