Rethinking New York’s Transportation Systems

New York is taking steps to meet its growing transportation infrastructure needs. The city is revamping its bus, subway and commuter train network, undergoing massive airport modernization projects including ingress and egress, increasing ferry routes, and expanding bike sharing options to the outer boroughs. Albany has also passed congestion pricing, although the details are still to be determined, and legalized e-bikes and e-scooters. In addition, major initiatives like the Gateway Program have faced resistance from the federal government. Which of these top transportation projects are being prioritized and where are the opportunities for contractors? What can we expect in terms of transportation changes and new initiatives that make commuting easier? Panelists will discuss the role technology is playing in modernizing these systems, improving the passenger experience and easing service interruptions during construction.
