New York, NY, May 20, 2015 – In recognition of Earth Day 2015, City & State published its first-ever Earth Day Special Issue and donated a portion of the proceeds, $2,000, to the Natural Heritage Trust, a division of New York State Parks, Recreation and History Preservation.
The Natural Heritage Trust was established in 1968 to advance public programs for the state’s parks, promote land and water conservation, and support historic preservation. By working with agency partners, nonprofit organizations, and private entities, the Natural Heritage Trust aids in the completion of capital projects and improvements, environmental and outdoor education, natural resource protection and restoration, and more throughout the state.
“As part of City & State’s inaugural Earth Day issue, we wanted to help support green initiatives throughout the state,” said City & State Publisher Andrew Holt. “Donating to the Natural Heritage Trust is one of the best ways to do that, since the Trust works with organizations statewide and ensures funding is put to good use.”
“City & State is proud that we are able to support environmental initiatives throughout the state by donating to one of the leading government agencies that oversees the protection of New York’s green spaces,” said City & State CEO Tom Allon.
City & State’s Earth Day Special Issue, printed on recycled paper, reported on environmental issues facing the state and city, including the brownfield program and NYC Mayor de Blasio’s environmental policy initiatives. City & State also sat down with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Richard Kauffman, the state’s first Chairman of Energy and Finance. Read the issue here.
