Poll: What role would Rudy Giuliani play in a hypothetical Donald Trump administration?

The only real suspense around this week's Republican National Convention was resolved a week early, when presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump selected his vice presidential running mate - Indiana Gov. Mike Pence. With the bottom of the ticket all but finalized, political pundits and observers are left to read the convention tea leaves and speaking schedules for possible clues as to who might fill out the rest of a hypothetical Trump cabinet.

One name that has already surfaced as a possible cabinet selection is former New York City Mayor-turned Fox News talking head Rudolph Giuliani, an early Trump supporter who these days makes headlines for his frequently incendiary comments regarding law enforcement and national security. Politico New York reported Monday that speculation on Giuliani's political future is already a major talking point in Cleveland, with New York Republican delegates attaching his name to cabinet posts as prominent as Secretary of Homeland Security or director of the FBI. Giuliani apparently has his sights set even higher - with one New York Democrat at the convention telling Azi Paybarah that the former mayor is interested in becoming Secretary of State.

Giuliani has always been known to have a high opinion of himself, but given his relationship with Trump and record as the mayor who brought crime down in New York City and guided the city through its darkest hour on 9/11 - a fact he has used to make himself a very wealthy man in his post-political life - it is a reasonable assumption that he would be considered for a federal post. Giuliani is the convention's keynote speaker on Monday night, scheduled to touch on - you guessed it - safety and security.

Given his reputation in the Empire State, we wanted to give our readers a chance to weigh in on Giuliani's future. What position would you want to see him hold in a Trump administration? Or would you rather Giuliani steered clear of the federal government altogether? Vote in our poll below.
