City & State is strengthening our coverage in a crucial election year, hiring Kate Lisa as a state politics reporter based in Albany.
Lisa has been covering the Capitol for six years, most prominently as a reporter for Spectrum News, where she has graced televisions across the state of New York. She has a voracious appetite for policy and has consistently broken news on elections and various issues, including criminal justice, cannabis and climate. Her writing has become a must-read for anyone hoping to understand the budget and state politics.
“It’s an honor to join City & State’s team of talented journalists – especially in this pivotal year,” Lisa said. “I’m eager to meet you, to be a pest and ask the right questions. Excelsior.”
A native of the Capital Region, Lisa previously worked at newspapers across upstate New York. She’s also a classically trained pianist and is known for her portrayal of Gov. Kathy Hochul in the Legislative Correspondents Association Show.
Lisa starts Monday, Feb. 2, and will be working closely with City & State Senior State Politics Reporter Rebecca C. Lewis.
