Zohran Mamdani needs a winter hat. We have some ideas.

Growing up, we all had that one friend who refused to bundle up on even the coldest of days. Well, it appears that New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani still falls into that category.
During his first emergency as mayor, Mamdani was seen digging out a car in Brooklyn during the heaviest snow the city has seen in years. But moms across the state – including Gov. Kathy Hochul – were very concerned that the 34-year-old was not wearing a hat while doing so. Asked about it Monday, Mamdani noted that his hair did start to freeze later in the day, at which point he put on a beanie. “People care a lot if you don't wear one,” he joked. “I appreciate the feedback, I’ll take it going forward.”
If Mamdani is taking feedback, we thought we might recommend a few winter hat options for the next snowstorm.
Zohran for NYC beanie
The mayor MUST have one of these somewhere! But it would be uncouth for him to wear one while carrying out official mayoral duties.

Whereas Mamdani’s predecessor, Eric Adams, was a man of many hats (literally), Mamdani has clearly taken the opposite approach. This might be a good place to start.
Fisherman beanie
A winter staple for so many millennial men of Brooklyn and western Queens who helped get Mamdani elected, the fisherman beanie is a look we’re almost surprised we haven’t seen the mayor sport yet.
Curtis Sliwa’s red beret
Luckily, getting a tan line seems unlikely in this weather. Plus, odds are high Sliwa has an extra one.
Soviet ushanka
The New York Post already calls him a communist, so why not embrace it? Say what you will about Russian politics, but when it comes to staying warm in the winter, they’re still a global super power.
Department of Sanitation hat
It could be a baseball cap, a beanie, or even a hoodie. The sanitation workers would be happy to share, as long as Mamdani pays it forward in the next contract.
Knicks winter hat
Perhaps the mayor can take some pointers on being a Knicks fan from Spike Lee, starting with a warm hat. Just don’t be like Adams – stick to one team at a time.
Flat cap
For a more sophisticated look for the young mayor.
Earmuffs
This is the bare minimum, Mr. Mayor. At least this way, you can avoid hat hair.
