Inner Circle Set To Poke Fun At De Blasio Next Month
It's that time of year again—The Inner Circle, an organization of New York City political journalists, has announced the date of its annual revue poking fun at federal, state, and local elected officials. This year's event, to be held on March 22nd at the New York Hilton Midtown, is titled "Stuck with de Bill", and is Mayor Bill de Blasio's initiation into the inglorious annals of Inner Circle tradition.
The occasionally cringe-worthy production includes a variety of satirical musical theater-inspired numbers, which is followed by a staged "rebuttal" by the mayor himself. Last year, former mayor Michael Bloomberg set the bar high in his final Inner Circle, hiring professional Broadway actors to join him onstage for a medley of singing and dancing, which included the billionaire mayor donning an '80s rocker wig—a nod to the Rock of Ages show—and pantomiming a guitar solo. Past shows included former mayor Rudy Giuliani cross dressing as Marilyn Monroe.
