Five Bronx education influencers you need to know

When the governor or the mayor get behind a major development project, much of the planning and political strategizing has already been done by local officials and executives. When politicians tout New York City’s expanding tourism sector, the economic benefits are the result of hard work by business and nonprofit leaders. And when lawmakers announce plans to improve health outcomes and slow the rise of medical costs, they partner with leading hospitals and researchers to get the job done.

Many of the individuals who carry out these tasks behind the scenes are not elected, but they are often just as powerful as the officials that are voted into office. In this list, we identify five of these key players in Bronx education – "the Influentials."
