Last year was a lime green-tinted “Brat Summer,” referring to Charli XCX’s “Brat” album – a trend politicians jumped on (and made a lot less cool). After Lorde’s recent performance of her new single, “What Was That,” in Washington Square Park, and the release of her music video for the song that featured footage from around New York City, this year could be “Lorde Summer.” However, politicians and city government wasted no time in claiming the early song of the summer contender.
