TikTokers worldwide want Zohran Mamdani to fix their problems
The social media mayor is known for making TikToks, but he may be watching yours too.

You may have seen dozens of viral videos tagging New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani for help in addressing potholes, broken park equipment and sidewalk issues. The mayor has even responded to some of the requests. People have theorized that tagging Mamdani might actually be the way to get your issue addressed quickly.
Assembly Member Chantel Jackson, who represents several central Bronx neighborhoods, is one of them. Like other local elected officials, Jackson brings up issues in her district to relevant agencies that can help – like blocked sidewalk ramps at dangerous intersections. But over multiple mayoral administrations, she said, she rarely sees quick results.
That’s until she started posting videos – including of a curb accessibility issue – earlier this year. In one video of an obstructed curb that went semi-viral, she tagged the mayor, the city Department of Transportation and other elected officials. A local group provided a temporary fix, and then four days after she posted her viral video, the Department of Transportation showed up to rip up the sidewalk for a more permanent repair.
Jackson has given up hope on municipal issues being addressed via the regular channels and instead has just encouraged her fellow local officials to “become influencers” to get their needs addressed. But Jackson, who served in the Assembly with Mamdani, said the mayor sees her videos on social media.
“Isn’t that insane what we have to do?” Jackson said. “And if we were in Manhattan, this would never be the case.”
“Whether it’s 311 or a social media post, we take every constituent request seriously, and with the help of dedicated city workers, we work to address each one as quickly as possible,” said Jeremy Edwards, a spokesperson for the mayor’s office.
But it’s not just New Yorkers who have been tagging Mamdani to fix their problems. People all over the world have noticed Mamdani’s building reputation for responsiveness and are putting up the bat signal for Mamdani’s help.
High-speed rail
High-speed rail is not exactly an American specialty, but one TikToker called on Mamdani to create a high-speed rail line from Malaysia to Singapore. The subways aren’t even in Mamdani’s remit, but perhaps that creator could try out the No. 7 train, also known as the “International Express.”

Who’ll stop the rain?
“There’s too much fucking rain, make it stop raining Mamdani. Thank you,” one person in the Philippines pleaded during a downpour in Manila. While the mayor has many skills, weather manipulation is sadly not one of them.

Witchcraft or electrical blip?
Obviously, Mamdani can’t help with any of these far-flung requests for divine intervention. Or can he? One video went viral when, in the middle of a blackout in Lebanon, this TikToker asked Mamdani to get their power back and it immediately turned on.

An entire municipal budget in Egypt
