Poll: Moskowitz Trial Balloon for Mayor Needs More Time to Inflate

Eva Moskowitz may be making waves about running for mayor “some day,” but only 7 percent of voters would consider voting for her if she ran against Mayor Bill de Blasio, according to a poll to be issued later this week by City & State Reports, the new data affiliate of City & State.

Gotham Research Group, a research and polling firm led by Dr. Jeffrey Levine, sampled 275 registered New York City voters who were read a list of people along with brief descriptions of who they are (the order of names was rotated randomly) and asked which of five different candidates, if any, would they vote for against de Blasio were the election held today. Moskowitz, listed as a former City Council member and the founder/CEO of Success Academy Charter Schools, received the support of only 7 percent of voters, despite the headlines Moskowitz has made in her public battle with de Blasio over charter schools.

In addition to this subset of data, City & State Reports will be releasing more information from the poll in the coming days.
